If there was ever an occasion that proved the answer-without-a-question, it would be this.
27 (The day rent was due) - 28 (The day I actually paid) = -1
-1 + 83074 (Secret amount of money in yen due for rent + parking) = 83073
83073 ÷ 1 (Number of extra bank accounts my wife had to transfer the money to) = 83073
83073 - 83000 (Amount paid in yen for secret, untold rent due) = 73
73 x 2 (Number of times I deeply sighed at the state of things) = 146
146 ÷ 3 (Number of lines of Vogon Poetry read by the clerk to make us stop yelling) = 48.7
48.7 + 1 (Number of old men they sent to pick up the balance) = 49.7
49.7 - 39.2 (Number of laughs shared by the old man and myself) = 10.5ẋ (Where ẋ = all the numbers in the equation except for the number of number ones are entirely, if not possibly slightly made up)
10.5ẋ x 4 (Number of number ones in the equation) = 42ẍ (Actual balance in yen we needed to pay to the old man the company
actually sent to collect and where ẍ = the gods' awful truth)
Goodbye and thanks for all the Japanese bureaucracy and ridiculousness.

As a reminder, May 25th is Towel Day! Always know where your towel is!
